Columbus Preschool Inc. was formed in 1973 by a group of parents interested in providing a preschool experience for their children. The Columbus Women's Civic Club provided initial funding and support. The school has become an increasingly important part of the community, undergoing extensive growth from 16 4-year-olds the first year to over 50 students the last number of years. More than 1,500 students have attended Columbus Preschool, housed in many different buildings, over the last 30-plus years!
In the summer of 2009, the preschool purchased the VFW building at 213 Farnham St. This building is the first the preschool has ever owned, and we are proud to call it ours. A fenced-in outdoor play area was added in 2012, and we continue to make improvements to the building and equipment within, which ensures a safe, functional learning environment for our students. In 2018, a new entryway was added for additional storage space, and a play loft was installed to bring play to new heights.
